Amy Brown is probably one of my favorite AQHA girls out there. I met Amy, and her amazing boy Red last summer at her SCQHA coordination! Amy was the SCQHA Queen and went on to compete for the Congress Queen title that fall and stole the crown! Yes, Amy Brown is the 2016 All American Congress Queen!
So of course when Amy got back into the great state of North Carolina we had to get some new shots of her Congress Queen outfits and Amy wanted some Equine Portrait Sessions of her three quarter horse boys, Red, Blackie, and Zip.
As soon as I pulled up to her Concord, NC barn I saw Amy getting Blackie ready. It was love at first sight with Blackie! Tall Dark and Krymsun is a STUNNING American Quarter Horse that Amy personally owns and shows. Of course there is Red, aka Ima Shifty Goodbar who she rode during her horsemanship portion of the Congress Queen competition. And then I finally met Zip, Amy’s ol trusty guy who is a powerhouse in the show ring. He just recently came of retirement!
Amy really wanted to get some great portraits of the boys so she could get a canvas for her home. We loved how it turned out!
Amy and I talked about Congress, the highs and lows, and her new responsibilities as Congress Queen. She already had so many trips planned and seemed so excited for them all!
Amy loved how she got to meet past Congress Queens and loved soaking up information from them.
I asked Amy what the coolest part about holding the AQHA Congress Queen title was, and she said that she loved that she was the Golden Queen. Amy won the crown during the Golden Anniversary of the All American Quarter Horse Congress. She will always stand out as the Golden Queen!
Amy is still just as passionate about her Annual Gold Ribbon Open Horse Show, coming up March 4th. Amy manages the entire show herself and all the proceeds go to NC4K. This show helps children with cancer, and with every show it grows bigger than the last. I am so excited to attend myself and to see how much Amy can raise this year!
Our new Congress Queen is still extremely passionate about the quarter horse breed and promoting it across the United States. She frequently travels to large shows and helps promote the breed.
One of my favorite things about the Queen Contest are all the stunning outfits. The Congress Queen has an entire wardrobe of clothing designed by Berry Fit. They design the most beautiful jackets for those who show showmanship or western events. Amy’s favorite piece was the stunning gold outfit she is wearing. I was in looooooooove with this outfit, and Amy rocked it!
Amy is a super talented competitor in the AQHA circuit. She typically shows all around on her quarter horses.
Amy said her favorite part about this outfit was the fringe! I’d have to agree!
A great benefit of becoming the Congress Queen are all the great sponsors you get to work with. Rhinestone Lipgloss is a phenomenal company that is dedicated to providing custom earrings to those in the equine community to match your show or pageant outfits. They made these gorgeous golden earrings to go with Amy’s outfit! Brim Styles creates some of the most amazing hats I have ever seen. I was in looooooove with Amy’s hat and I must have one for myself!
Amy is the epitome of a great Congress Queen. She is kind, humble, and friendly. She loves AQHA and is a fantastic competitor. Not only that, Amy loves to give back and to help those around her. In fact, during our session she was offering to let me borrow tack, outfits, and giving met tips for my upcoming show I had with my mare Athena. Anything to help me, or anyone getting back into showing, Amy is there to help and cheer you on. Amy is by far the best Queen to represent the American Quarter Horse Association.
