Lauren Blaha is a fellow equine photographer based out of Winston-Salem, and I was so excited and nervous to photograph her and her horse Angel!
Photographing other photographers can be quite intimidating! We all have our own shooting style, our own workflow, and our own methods to get things done.
I find myself worrying if they are going to be happy with the images I took because as professionals, we can be really picky!
Luckily, Lauren was a breeze to work with. We instantly started talking about the headache of owning mares, what we loved about equine photography, and marveled about how much we had in common!
Lauren rides a lot of different events, but we mainly talked about hunter jumpers and how she competed through college with IHSA!
I could tell immediately that Angel truly loves Lauren, although Lauren jokes about how Angel feels indifferent about her. I have to disagree! <3
The pair was so easy to work with. Lauren and her sweet, happy self made for the perfect model, and Angel was so easy going and relaxed no matter what we tried!
Lauren goes to school at Wake Forest School of Medicine and is on the Editorial Committee for Wake Forest Journal of Science and Medicine! Beauty and brains. 😉
Lauren is an expert at multitasking. She owns her own business AND is pursuing her MD. Words cannot express how awesome she is!
Lauren is a total animal lover! She owns Angel, a ADORABLE goldendoodle, and two pet snakes!
Lauren had a Pokemon phone cased, and we both geeked out over how much we played Pokemon Go! Haha!
Lauren also revealed she was a huge Harry Potter fan. That may be an understatement, but I loved how real she was!
I am pretty sure Lauren is part goddess! <3 <3 <3
Lauren talked about how IHSA really grew her as an equestrian and gave her so many amazing opportunities in the equine industry. She talked about how much she missed it and how she tries to go to as many alumni shows as possible!
Lauren did my photos of Athena over the fall, and was so patient with us both. I seriously loved how so many of them turned out! <3
Lauren is one of those rare people that actually listens when you speak and cares about what you have to say. She really captured the bond I had with my horse, something that is not so easily accomplished.
Oh goodness, my heart! <3 They have got to be the cutest pair ever!
Lauren loves her senior mare. She loves the nice, easy going rides and loves to take a break from school and hang out with Angel.
It is easy to see that Angel is one of her closest friends, and Angel truly enjoys being around Lauren!
One thing that Lauren did that made her shoot super successful was that she took her horse to all the locations she wanted to go weeks before the shoot so that Angel could fully relax and was totally used to the new areas by the time our shoot came along.
We were running out of light, and I saw the most gorgeous sunset starting to form. So Lauren quickly changed into her last outfit and we trotted over to the hills!
We were able to capture the most GORGEOUS silhouette shots. I am pretty obsessed with them!
Lauren is such a laid back, fun, and a super professional person. I am so grateful that we were able to meet and hang out together, and I was so honored to experience the deep bond she shares with her sweet mare Angel. Lauren truly sees the passion we have with our horses and aims to capture that as well as I do, and luckily our styles mesh together so well. I sincerely had so much fun hanging out with them! The only thing that sucks about Lauren is that she lives so far away! Haha!
Do you want a gorgeous session that highlights the bond you have with your horse, just like Lauren and Angel?
